Engine Repairs and Reconditioning
I will repair any two or four-stroke model engine, glow or gas. I
will
also do light machine work if necessary for the repair. Such work as
the
following can be done:
-Bearing replacement, two or four stroke.
-New piston rings, including cylinder honing.
-Removal of frozen bolts or screws without damage to the engine.
-Complete engine rebuilding to restore performance.
-Damaged engine repair.
-Machining of damaged mating parts if possible.
As I have to buy parts at retail just like you do, there is no
markup
for parts and I will use yours if you have them (assuming they are
correct). Shipping costs for parts is also a pass-through. Bearings
will
come from Boca Bearing, other parts will be ordered from the
appropriate
distributor.
Labor for any service is $25/hr, including any cleanup necessary
prior
to disassembly. A typical two-stroke bearing replacement in an
otherwise
good engine will take about an hour or less, including cleaning (you
can
save a buck or two by cleaning it up first), plus roughly $12 to $15
for
the bearings. If you are in a hurry I can pick them up at Boca
Bearing,
but I’ll charge you $15/hr for my time. Gas is expensive these days.
I
will give you a rough estimate after seeing your engine, but you
don’t
always know what you’ll find until its apart. If I feel its not
repairable, or parts cost is excessive, I will not attempt the
impossible. Often its cheaper to replace than repair. You will only
owe
me for my time to tear it down.
